Akwa Ibom Seals Christ Embassy Church
Akwa Ibom State Government has fixed off a Christ Embassy church in Uyo, the state capital for purportedly spurning rules for reviving of chapels in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, The PUNCH reports.
The Secretary to the State Government, Emmanuel Ekuwem, who declared the advancement in an announcement on Sunday, communicated alarm at the activity of the ministers and individuals who purportedly assaulted individuals from the state COVID-19 observing group.
Ekuwem stated, “Today, Sunday 21 June, 2020, the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Christian Association of Nigeria Monitoring Team, while on a normal consistence/investigation visit to the Christ Embassy Church, Nung Akpa Ime branch, State House of Assembly Road, off Nsikak Eduok Avenue to implement the rules and conventions received to forestall network spreading of the feared COVID-19 pandemic in the state, were discouraged, assaulted and brutalized by the ministers and a few individuals from the congregation.
“In light of this demonstration of disorder by the congregation and so as to keep away from the danger of network transmission of COVID-19 in Akwa Ibom State, the Christ Embassy Church building and premises are thus fixed with prompt impact till further notification.
“The ministers and significant individuals from the congregation will be made to confront the rage of the law.”
